Well James Hibberd has confirmed to me that it isn't dead.
So we wait, and I'll be waiting in a resort spa and incommunicado. I may post to my site in a reply via BlackBerry but anything else is going to be difficult and I'll be majorly incommunicado.
So everyone still cross your fingers, toes, eyes, whatever helps.
Twitter is your friend. At the very least cko can get it and put it up here or at your blog...because I love cko and she would totally do that for me.

mmm, that looks great to me! only thing is it is CW affiliates, not ABC, but that response is probably pretty appropriate. It's not clear that this syndication deal has filtered down equally to all the affiliates across the country. But it was a personal reply anyway. Am I the only one who got no response from any of my emails to my CW affiliate? My local CW sucks!

Well that depends where you live CKO, for instance if your'e in an area that has an affiliate that is changing ownership you're not likely to get a response. I think the only major top 25 viewing areas that is changing ownership is Austin though.

Okay, well, here's the deal: I am going to bed. I also have to work all day tomorrow - ALL day. So while I might be able to come and go during the day, it won't be with the intensity of today. With that in mind, I have some things I'd like to put out beforehand so that you all are aware of (and can help out if you want).
1. We should be receiving an official word of something VERY soon. At the very least, from FOX. If Tyler has been let out of his REAPER contract, FOX is going to want to promote him for SOT. Personally, I am hoping ABC makes its announcement about Reaper at the same time.
If not - the publicity will kill us if we don't get a jump on it. Don't think for a second that EVERY major site is going to pick up Tyler's Reaper contract status. This most likely means ALL headlines will be NO CHANCE FOR REAPER TYLER IS GONE. Accordingly, this will also mean people will post "aw man, i was really hoping they'd get reaper into syndication".
Being proactive helps A LOT. The higher up on the comment list we can get, the more audience sees our information. Posting first - or near first - is crucial. I would suggest pointing out that "No, this only means Tyler is leaving Reaper, there's been no official word yet from ABC, and we know the affiliates are interested in the show. A regional manager even said they would be interested with Tyler or no Tyler. If you want to help convince ABC to FINALLY send a contract out to the waiting affiliates, see reaperdmv.com for the details." Something like that, only better written. Mentioning how you don't mind Tyler gone and that you're going to tell ABC, etc., wouldn't hurt. Be careful as at a lot of sites they won't let you put links. If that's the case I put "google 'reaperdmv' to find all the info"
If you can, try and register to post at sites that require logins to comment. Missing those can be important, as a lot of them have heavy readership.
Ck - if you can do blogs that will help a ton too. Lots of "non-news" people have tons of readerships too, so it's important to hit them too.
2. Try and contact the journalists who wrote the pieces.
3. If you post at other places, keep trying to get others to email in about Reaper. I kinda think at this point the best thing to do is not necessarily write in ourselves (which yes, totally still do), but to get MORE people to write in.
4. James Hibberd is at the very least aware of what's going on, particularly if he checks his emails. I've emailed him (and I tried to make my title and contact as eye-catching as possible), several here have emailed him, and Nick says he's been in contact with him.
Honestly, from a layman's view, if I were a reporter, I'd be all over this story. There are a great many things that don't quite add up. I'm of conflicting views. Either: A) Nick is right, and ABC is trying to get all its ducks in place before announcing anything; or B) ABC has royally screwed up and waited too long, thereby missing their opportunity to sell Reaper, and they are now in the process of scrambling to cover their asses.
At the very least, I'm going to point out a few things to you:
1. We know the affiliates were offered Reaper when the CW dropped its Sunday nights. That was nearly a month ago. The Tyler and creators question was in full view then, so NOTHING in terms of that has changed since the offer of Reaper was made. It's not like ABC or the affiliates can go "oh well, when we first said yes we didn't know Tyler was maybe going to leave".
2. We also know ABC has NOT offered the affiliates a contract. Current word is that ABC won't offer one either. So, something else is happening. Either ABC has sold the show, or is giving up on it.
3. If ABC has sold the show, then that verifies current word that ABC sent out a letter saying they sold the show to cable. Either they sold it without Tyler, or they are lying their asses off to try not to get caught - which seems pretty stupid to me since it's an easy lie to catch. No ultimate cable deal = lying to affiliates Reaper was sold in the first place.
4. If on the other hand ABC has NOT sold the show and is simply giving up on it...well, that's interesting that they'd spend so much time trying to sell it, only to suddenly lose interest in it at the very same time *we* have discovered that the affiliates WANT to buy the program.
5. I'm not gonna get into the Tyler/Jenny/Bret Twitter/Facebook/Comments/Contracts inconsistencies. It's too long, and I haven't yet figured out what the exact problem is. It's like everyone is both contradicting each other, yet confirming each other at the same time.
Like I said, if I was a reporter, I'd be taking notice here. At the very least it has the potential to be HIGHLY embarrassing to ABC (especially if they're lying about something, or screwed up a golden opportunity that was practically placed in their hands), and all as a backfire to try to be highly embarrassing to the CW by trying to prove Dawn Ostroff doesn't know what she's doing.
Anyways, hopefully this is understandable. I'm mainly rambling at this point. If anyone wants to translate the stuff I've said, feel free.
Here's hoping to *good* news tomorrow, but no matter what I would like to add we should thank people whether we win or lose. Maybe start a Thank You thread, but I also recommend the personal touch. There are tons of people who helped us out in good faith, and they deserve to be appreciated.

Dear Mr. Hibberd,
I know you are currently working on the Reaper story, and Nick C. recommended that we send you all the positive responses from the CW affiliates that we have received about them wanting to buy Reaper from ABC Studios. I am sorry, I am working as fast as I can to get everyone to forward you their responses, but everyone is kinda in and out today and I know that time is off the essence. For now, I am sending you links to where people put up their responses, and I can forward you at least two of them that were forwarded to me. I know these links are not the same thing as an original response, and hopefully we can get that to you in time.
Thank you for your help, it's really a shame if the deal falls through considering so many people are interested in the show. A couple of responses are from Chris Wolfe, and Doug Frinke also wrote a few. If you need any more information, please don't hesitate to ask, and I do hope this information is helpful to you.

Just adding my posts to the many, not wanting to see this show canceled before it's time. Like so many before it, if we keep getting the same crap in the movies, and the best shows on tv canceled what the hell are we going to have left? 90210? and a movie about ginnypigs? They're are more god awful things being made flimed and played on screen then ever before. I really don't see what the deal is, Someone comes up with a good idea for a show and people love it , adore it can't get enough off it. I've not spoke to one person who has a bad thing to say about this show. Personally, i don't blame Tyler if his choices end up killing the show. This show should have been renewed without question months ago. who wants to live on edge knowing if your show isnt going to be renewed or picked up by someone else or what have you. I've been saying this for years as many of you, the ratings need to be ajusted for internet views and DVR/Tivo. I think I read someplace the last ratings were 2.7 I know it's more than that.
It's late and im tired, I just found this board so if i'm ranting and not making any scense just let it slide, I just found out reaper wasnt renewed and like many of us are ,im still cranky.

Welcome invalidcookie (great username). Thanks for your help with the campaign. I've deleted the contact information you listed in your last post just because NickC has advised us not to spam her so we don't want everyone flooding her with e-mails and phone calls. She's to be contacted only if you have a reply from a CW affiliate that says they are interested in purchasing the show. Forward the reply to her. Thanks. (Anyone else who has a reply to forward just print it here and we'll see it gets to the right person)

I've been lurking around here for a couple weeks, reading the posts and taking down the contact info to e-mail people, stations, etc about getting this wonderful series renewed for a third season. Just thought I'd actually register and post a note.
In addition to contacting the affiliates and studios listed, I also posted a note about the Save Reaper campaign and DMV site/forum on my unofficial LegendoftheSeeker site in hopes that anyone that visits it either might be a Reaper fan that would want Reaper saved, or might still give the campaign a look and consider helping. Since ABC was (or are they still?) trying to sell Reaper into syndication with lots I thought it would be a plus. Since my site isn't well traveled it may not be of much help in bringing traffic to DMV, but at this rate even 1 extra person that wants to Save Reaper could make the difference, perhaps. I think one of my site helpers might have taken the link down when the "scifi picked it up" rumors surfaced and they thought the show was saved. If so I'll readd the link to dmv and the campaign blogs, etc when I get back from work and can access ftp.
I really hope Reaper gets a third season. I will admit Season 2 didn't do much for me. But I still like the show a lot and feel without the CW the quality will be way, way better. Although I won't say anymore, because had the CW renewed Reaper we would be assured a third season. I have confidance and faith we fans can make a difference. You guys are doing a great job and I'll try and do anything I can to help.

Cool, lwoks, happy to have you, and thanks for everything you're doing. Frankly I'd never heard of LOTS until this packaging deal came up, so I'm definitely going to check it out, and your site. Stick with us. I'm still hopeful.
Hard to know if it's better to have no news, or news. As long as we don't hear "It's Over" then it's not over! (I know there's a famous quotation in there somewhere.)

I hear you. a lot of good shows got canceled in past few years. Seems to me every time I fell in love with a show and if that show has a good story, solid cast and lot fan base (at least according to internet fora) it's canceled after one season. Journeyman. Aliens in America. New Amsterdam. while the show that went from good to mediocre live on on inertia and past glory (Heroes).
I hope Reaper will be renewed for at least one season so we get some sort of closure and answers to open questions about whole Sam-evil-Dad-contract thing. but I fear that even if it is renewed and then canceled mid-season ending will be rushed, as many series were rushed during writers strike.
But I still hope for the best (and lot of Jenny Wade ), that is full season (even if it's just 13 episodes) and good conclusion. I'd settle for "OK, one more season and that's it but we told writers to end it well" deal.
I actually kind of hope Reaper still gets sold with LOTS, as the show sounds like my cup of tea. I know when I have time I'd like to check out the previews the ABC Advisory Panel has up about it.
We are certainly trying, obeck! Welcome - and the same to anyone else I've missed. You'll have to forgive me, I haven't had time to find a group welcome smiley.

Update:
Author: Nick C Comment: Ok this is from my blackberry so excuse any typos (or more than normal).
I hear they are hunting down a showrunner which is a good sign it is still kicking.
Abc family and tbs are good targets for emails. It is going to be cable. I just can't find out where until saturday.
Okay, the hell with it. I'm just gonna blanket all of cabledom. Be sure to include your (and anyone else in your household that watches) age, M/F, address, and cable provider if applicable. International fans, let ABC know there's a solid overseas market for the show!:

Maybe if we wait just a few hours we'll have a better idea of who to target. And a showrunner? We had a few in mind from the producers' list. I hope they've gone through all of those, the obvious choices. And I wonder if what Tyler said about replacing all the writers is true.
Re: News on Deals for Season Three! « Reply #82 on Jun 5, 2009, 10:59am »
I really hope that they don't replace all the writers like Tyler said. Even though Tara and Michele would still be part of the show as consultants, that can really hurt the show in terms of voice and characterization.
But I'm still glad that there seems to be hope for Reaper's survival, even if the wait is grating. I've already emailed my CW affiliate, ABC, and the like and just want to finally know the fate of Reaper!
And it seems like a move to cable is the most likely result to all this? That'd be good for Reaper, but not me, since my lack of cable would leave me unable to watch it. Boo. *crosses fingers for CW syndication and a pairing with the awesome LOTS*
But I'm still glad that there seems to be hope for Reaper's survival, even if the wait is grating.
The one thing that I keep in mind is the fact that we WILL eventually be given an answer, due to the Tyler situation. This isn't like other shows where nothing really hinges on the outcome of whether the show continues or not. There HAS to be a decision, and most likely it will have to happen soon. I'm guessing SOT would shoot like Reaper did, and Reaper started beginning of July - which means production started even earlier than that. So I would imagine FOX is "encouraging" ABC to make a decision about Tyler ASAP.
Re: News on Deals for Season Three! « Reply #84 on Jun 5, 2009, 12:14pm »
Well Reaper began in July because they had to be ready to come in off the bench at any time should another show tank. Remember there was a time when they said Reaper could return as early as October. Normally, for a show scheduled mid-season however, they can wait until the fall to start shooting just to have enough shows in the vault so the audience doesn't catch up to them. Then they shoot through the early spring. In short, we don't know that SoT begins shooting in July, that would be early for a confirmed mid-season show. But I agree they do need an answer soon or they'd have to postpone further or recast, and that would have to be done before shooting in say October.
