Reaper Receipt 1,000 Campaign
Post by admin on Jun 10, 2009, 2:28am

Okay, I am overwhelmed at this point and need help. This whole campaign is now more than just me starting a board because I wanted to keep in contact with my 5 other Reaper friends.

We have been asked to do something, and I honestly have no idea how to do even *half* of it. I really need help trying to figure out how to organize this, especially so that we can start it ASAP. So please, any advice anyone has to offer cko and me on how to figure this out is MAJORLY appreciated. I am hoping that even if there is no one in our fandom who has ever done something like this before, there are at least some who can figure out how.

While supporting the affiliates and cable is good (so keep that up), we've been advised to Show Them The Money to convince ABC Studios and others that it's in their financial interest to Save Reaper. Basically, this tip is telling us we need to step it up.

After discussing this with Nick C., he replied with the following:

I suggest a DVD/Petition campaign. Show your money is where your mouth is. Get a legit petition in major markets. Buy a DVD (season 1 or 2). Attach copy of receipt to each signature.

Then set up dates to watch the show in order on your site and other REAPER sites. #savereaper #watchreaper on Twitter and chat during the scheduled time to watch the show. #chuckmemondays have broken into the top twittered subjects. Use that to get others to sign petition and buy a DVD set.

The general thought is for every 1 person who does something there is likely 100 people behind them. So if you can gather up 1,000 signatures and DVD receipts...you'd make a statement.

It has to be substantially different than past campaigns. They care about money. It's a business. So create a money making campaign. Get Jenny Wade and others to sign copies of DVDs to sell on your site. Get them involved. Attack Comic Con with it. Have DVDs the girls and Bret there to pimp the product and the petition.

Now, our first problem is how to gather the petitions/receipts. Cko and I are trying to work on that. Maybe she can update herself. Nick has said it doesn't matter if there is 1 receipt petition signed by 1000 people, or 1000 receipt petitions signed by 1 person.

I don't think people should send them to ABC - at least not yet. Remember, ABC gets thousands upon thousands of letters a day, so the last thing we need is for a receipt to be overlooked. We may need to send them somewhere else. I am still asking Nick about that. We (meaning me) also need some way of keeping track so that we (meaning me) know when 1000 has been reached.

As to the rest? Uh...I would *love* to do it, but I have absolutely no clue. Particularly for the last suggestion. I will tell you that I take the advice seriously, and want to work it if we can. It's definitely something that can rocket us into "Firefly" fandom status. Conventions are serious business, yo.

Now, I cannot guarantee this will work. I can't even guarantee that it's a good shot. But IMO, it *is* worth a shot - even if it's a long one.

Here's the beginning plan for the Reaper Receipt campaign. We need to gather 1000 people to send a letter/note/card or piece of paper with THEIR DVD RECEIPT. Info to include:
--Name, address
--Male/female, age.
--Viewing area, cable company.

Our idea is to have people either scan these and email them to a central location, or snail mail them to same. But we're not sure about this, so want your ideas.

We need from you:
1) Suggestions for a short tweetable, postable name for this campaign
2) Ideas for the best way to gather the sigs and receipts
3) Help on the other strategies blue listed above.
4) Once we get this organized, help us by spreading the word.
5) If you're on twitter, follow reaperdmv for all the latest.

SAVE YOUR DVD RECEIPTS AND START GATHERING FRIENDS AND FAMILY WHO WILL DO THE SAME! IF EVERYONE HERE GOT 10 MORE PEOPLE, THAT WOULD BE OVER 1000 RIGHT THERE!

Keep the faith, people! Let's try this thing.

I posted this in the other thread, but possibly getting an alternate network interested in reruns would be a good goal. Adult Swim, for instance, was very instrumental in reviving Family Guy. I was thinking Comedy Central would be a great place to get college age kids that would never watch the CW. If you ask me, the CW was in no way the right network for a show like Reaper. I put off watching it for a year b/c I didn't think the CW could possibly have anything I'd be interested in. Overcoming that mindset is crucial.

to be fair i`m a bit surprised Comedy Central isn't the network who aired reaper in the USA instead of CW.
here in Holland it is the comedy central that airs reaper, thy started last Friday with season 2.

As far as the Twitterable Reaper campaign goes, I would stick with what we've got. I like the #SaveReaper one. It's short, to the point, and I've sent it to ABC about 300 times already. ;D

As far as coordinating some sort of online watching of the show, I would suggest going with Tuesday nights. That's when Reaper was (oh so briefly) shown, in North America anyway, and that's when I regularly think, "I wish I could be watching Reaper now."

I bought season 1 a few weeks ago, and preordered season 2, still waiting for it to arrive.

As for sending them in, maybe Blue Sunflower, you could get a PO Box or something similar?

Also, doing a weekly watch would probably be a good thing. Even though I recently rewatched s1, I'd gladly do it again.

jonnyspeight, I'm not in a DVD region 1 place, either, but there are tricks to making your computer play any region DVD. Like software that'd let you turn the DVD drive in your computer all region.
http://www.dvdidle.com/dvd-region-free.htm

Or keep two DVD drives around so one is set to region 1 all the time and the other is set to whatever region you're in.

I think there are tricks to make DVD players all region, too, but I haven't tried any of those since I watch DVDs with my computer and never bothered to get a DVD player.
Re: Reaper Receipt Petition Campaign

Ok, Nick said we need to send it to a centralized person here, as there is a centralized person we need to send it to who will walk the whole thing over. We *have* to have 1000. It also may be possible for people to scan in their receipts and email them to us.

I would suggest that for right now, if you are on other boards and stuff - particularly if you know other Reaper fans - to tell them to SAVE THEIR RECEIPTS.

This is not going to be easy. We will both need to find people who have already purchased the DVDs, as well as most likely get people who still need to purchase the DVDs.

We are working on that. However, we *can* also send in scanned copies. So if anyone would like to do that, please email them to:

Please include your name, address, age, M/F, and anything else you would like. I would ask that you try and keep it to no more than 1/3 to 1/2 a page (postcard size is best) so that when I print them out I can put more than one per page - saving paper and money.

Make sure to spread the word too. If you have friends, coworkers, family that you know of that bought - gather those receipts too. If you guys can collect 4-5 to send it, that would be awesome.

Heck, if you work for an electronic store, tell the customers who buy the DVDs from you! :D :D

We'll have even more details on this, especially the snail mail portion, later tonight.

Please, people, with this campaign, we need you to send in your own, but also a couple of others. Organize your family and friends, gather their information/receipts, and scan it in for them. It works a lot better if we have small-group organizers spread all over, and we need your leadership to help with this!

Like I said above, if all of us here gathered 10, that would be 1000 right there. Even if everyone could commit to 4, that would get us half way there. Plus, it would save a lot of work at the individual level for us organizing at this end. Thank you!

News from TVGuide.com

Hi, I'm new to the board. well, lurker mainly, but new to posting. I was just over at tvguide.com, and found this. Contains slight possible season 3 spoilage. so be warned.

The url to the article is here, http://www.tvguide.com/News/MegaBuzz-House-SVU-1006743.aspx
But the actual article is:

I am super upset that Reaper was canceled. The finale was great but totally left us hanging. What's the "greater good"? Is there any chance we can get some answers or a continuing story in maybe a comic book? If not, any word on where the writers were planning on going in Season 3? — Gerald
TIM: Reaper star Bret Harrison tells us he saw hints in the finale
that Andi (played by Missy Peregrym) "was going to probably be a reaper in the next season."
The story will survive as a comic book, but don't put your faith in talk of the show surviving in syndication: "[That] is a no-go," says Tyler Labine, aka Sock. "It's not officially, officially dead, but as far as everyone is concerned, it's over." As for whether Bret and Tyler would be interested in a Reaper movie, look for our full-length interview soon.

Save Reaper Receipts Campaign Launch
Post by cko on Jun 10, 2009, 5:47pm

Save Reaper Receipt campaign begins now!

We've heard on good authority that if we can prove there is a market for this show, it would give more force to the fight for a Reaper Season Three in syndication.

We need to gather 1000 people to send a letter/note/card or piece of paper with THEIR REAPER DVD RECEIPT.

Info to include:
1) Name, address
2) Male/female, age.
3) Viewing area, cable company.

BUT WE WANT YOU TO GATHER MORE THAN ONE SIGNATURE/RECEIPT IF YOU CAN!

IF EVERYONE HERE GOT TEN OF YOUR FRIENDS/FAMILY TO SIGN AND RECEIPT THAT WOULD BE 1000 RIGHT THERE!

And, if you can combine your people on one or two documents, that would make it a lot easier for us to organize on this end.

Either:
I. Scan your information and receipt and email to savereaper@yahoo.com.

II. Snail mail address:
ReaperDMV
PO Box 2054
Portland OR 97015

Do this now, the sooner the better. Show them the money! Show there's a market for Reaper!

Hi Blue Sunflower, I'm a long-time lurker here and appreciate all that you are doing.

Here are a couple of suggestions:

1) Start a discussion in Amazon.com discussions for the season 2 product page. I think that's a good group to target because there's no risk of them having lost their receipt (it's electronic so they can just view the order confirmation page, print it, and send it to you if they didn't save the confirmation email). Plus, if they're interested enough in the series to actually read the Amazon discussions, they might be interested enough to participate.

2) With regard to the "Jenny signing the DVD" concept, we couldn't reasonably expect Jenny to go through the hassle of signing a bunch of one-off DVDs every day as they arrive in the mail so maybe you could instruct people to mail the empty DVD boxes directly to you (so they could keep the disc) along with the other needed info (receipt, signed petition, etc.) with the understanding that it might take a month or two before you can send them back. Then, assuming they've complied with the "other needed info" requirement, you could collect them over the next few weeks and maybe Jenny would be willing to sign the whole lot of them in one sitting. This keeps any of us from having to become resellers or anything complicated like that. Of course, this is assuming Jenny would be on board with this. This is just a concept that might work for you/us/Jenny.

Anyway, just my $0.02. Thanks again!

Is it possible to have a spokesperson for the SAVE REAPER campaign come on next Tuesday night?
It would not only be good exposure but reach other fans and sites.
We have been talking about REAPER the last few shows & now I think we need to do more!
Our address is http://www.blogtalkradio.com/drandmrswho
And our call in number is 1-646-200-0232.
We can work out the details if you are interested!
Thanks and here's to a third season of REAPER.

Hey Blue. The links for the Reaper: Season 1 & 2, is it on this website, or Amazon? I am thinking of purchasing 2 or 3 set of each. virtue, it's the "links" in the headline at the top of the main page, where it says Season 1 and Season 2. Those take you directly to the correct Amazon page, and by some bizarre magic I guess reaperdmv gets a few cents from each purchase.

I just happened to check out Buddy TV. The viewers rate shows and their characters. Bret's ratings are over the top. Great site to list reaperdmv site. You probably have. Later.

I've mentioned this before, and I was thinking that this might fit in with this campaign. The local library systems in my area (Cleveland) are all on-line. I'm sure many/most library systems throughout the country, and maybe the world, have the same on-line access. This would be very easy for everyone on this site to do and it would swell our number dramatically!!! My idea is to have everone go into their local library systems and see if they have a copy/copies of Reaper (either season) and report that number to the savereaper@yahoo.com address for compiliation and reporting to whomever we decide to report it to. All of these copies reflect purchases that have been made of these DVD's. Any, perhaps more importantly, we could also report on how these copies are circulating. For example, I can go into the Cleveland Library System and place a hold on one of the DVD sets and it tells me if one is available, and if not, where I am on the waiting list. That would give the receiver of our information a good idea of how popular the show is. At the current time, the Cleveland Library System has 10 copies of Reaper Season 1, and none are available for withdrawal. I just placed a hold on it and came up 8th. That means that 10 people currently have the DVD set and there are another 8 waiting for it. And this, I might point out, is after seven months of the set being available. During that seven month period, I have never logged on and found any of the 10 copies immediately available. So, in summary, the 10 copies in the Cleveland Library System have all been checked out continuously for the past seven months, and there are still people waiting to see it!!!! I would think this would be a very good gauge of the popularity of the show. I just checked the Cleveland System for Season 2 and they have 8 copies on order and there are already 18 people waiting to withdraw it. A suburban system outside of Cleveland, Geauga County Library has 2 copies of Season 1 and one copy (I currently have it) of Season 2. That makes a total of 21 copies of Reaper available in just these two systems. Those represent 21 DVD sales which are easily verifiable. What does everyone else think about this idea??

I'm sorry, guys. I'm a victim of the crappy economy. My hours have been cut from 40 per week to 20. I can no longer afford car insurance. If it matters, I'm looking for a new job and intend to buy Season Two then. Can I send in a "I want it but am too broke" receipt?

I ordered my s2 copy about 2 days ago will send a copy of the receipt when it arrives. What kinda of feed back are you getting. Like are you at 200-300 yet or just 20?

Great input, everyone! wd, cool about the libraries, we'll talk about how to do that. If people want to do this research on your own, you can post here or send the info to the savereaper@yahoo.com email address, and we'll think about how to package that and include it.

Ashs, sorry to hear it. Hang in there. Yes, go ahead and send your info to the email address.

rchill, great!, and we're just starting, but we're posting on many sites and have a promotional plan in mind, so stay tuned!

virtue thanks for sticking with us (but don't neglect your work, like we are); I'm looking for that buddytv.com page to vote for Bret--do you have a link?

To be fair, we just started yesterday, so we're more at the latter than the former. I am getting some feedback that for people who order from non-Amazon places, their receipts will take a bit longer to come.

I just want to say, I really do believe there are a 1000 receipts out there, but we just have to get them. That's the hard part. I'm not really quite sure how to do that anymore, especially all by myself. Exposure is the key. Chuck's Subway Campaign would have been nothing if the major media hadn't picked it up. Unfortunately, at this point we can't really have or expect anyone to write this up, so that really limits our exposure. It also doesn't help that we started this *after* the DVD release date. I'm really sorry about that.

So, really, this has to be a true grassroots campaign. This is a lot like our other campaigns where it's exceedingly important to Spread The Word. I have to tell you, if the Receipts For Reaper campaign only stays at this board, we most likely will never reach 1000.

If you post at other boards, mention it. If you have your own blog, mention it. If you're at twitter, mention it. If you're at a DVD site, mention it. If you're at youtube, mention it. If you're at a news site, mention it. If you're at Amazon or someplace, mention it. Just. Talk. It. Up. If you comment at sites like Zap2It or BuddyTV, then mention it. Just. Mention. It.

If cko and I are the only ones going out and commenting, then the campaign is NOT going to be taken seriously. A thread with just me commenting is not going to get as much attention as a thread that's got a ton of people going "oh yeah! I'm in on that! I'm totally sending in my receipt too!"

We HAVE to look BIG. We're fighting against too many people whose only input is the major media, and the major media has declared Reaper dead. I cannot stress this enough.

Another thing I am going to suggest: We will shortly be starting a re-watch. When we do (which we haven't decided - do you guys want to watch the Sunday night reruns or a Tuesday night honoring of Reaper's timeslot?) then I recommend that be a "swarm" night of Reaper support everywhere, in order to keep the interest - and the DVD sales - up.

Blue Sunflower, I would recommend that you maybe try to publicize on non-movie related forums where ppl just hang out. Something awful and 4chan come to mind. Might also try updating the wikipedia article on reaper to mention this campaign. It still just says the show is cancelled and might go into syndication. I've been trying to mention reaper on a few of the boards I visit as well, so hopefully that might generate some traffic too.

Mine won't post, and I am still getting notification that people are reading it, so someone commenting on it will be sent to all the people who've subscribed to the thread. That'll at least spread the word to 5 more people. :D

Yeah, I did that. I've noticed they're really picky about what gets put on the *main* wikipedia page, but I'll bite the bullet and see if it lasts.

I do have it on the main page of the Reaper Wiki though.

Thank you. That helps no matter how small of an audience you get. One more person who's added through this method is one more person we didn't have before. Get enough of us doing this, and those "one person added" can really add up.

Wdpender, you well may be a genius. I actually went to Multnomah County, and they didn't even have Reaper! For Pete's sake, Portland's one of the largest Reaper markets, and Bret's from Tualatin! I'm gonna go to Clackamas and Washington and request there too.

I highly suggest everyone here who can google "purchase request library [your county]" and request your library to purchase a copy - even if they already have some. If they've got demand (like Cleveland apparently), they may well buy more - particularly if they start getting overloaded with requests.

Hell, look up your university library too. I saw several pages where you can request DVDs for them too.

^^^ And on the above note, I found the following out:

...uh, you can donate DVDs if you want. Get a tax deduction too. A ton of places want them. Not only can you donate to your local or university) library, but small town libraries (who may not be able to afford the DVDs no matter how many people request them), but your local hospitals (for people who are there long-term), nursing homes, etc etc.

There's also a program to purchase DVDs for our US vets and US troops:

http://dvds4vets.org/

http://www.amvets.org/taskforcedvd

They want DVDs desperately, and I kinda think Reaper is just *made* for the US Troops, particularly since that's already the demo that's attracted to the show in the first place. :)

I actually saw that October Road already even has this campaign in place too. If you've got some money to spend, want a good tax deduction, *and* help out others, consider donating some DVDs to local places or to the troops. Season 1 is on sale at Amazon, and you can bundle Season 1 and 2 and get even more savings off.

Reapermovie, WOW, awesome, thank you. We are moving on figuring out how best to work with Jenny, but this is so huge.

Nemicus, YAY, thank you for joining us and pitching in. It's every drop that counts. Some of the things we're asking people to do are listed above and in other threads around here.

1) When you come across websites that talk about Reaper, mention the campaign and link back here. Something like:

"Reaper's not dead yet! We've heard from insiders that ABC could still be convinced to sell the show for a Season Three in 2010. Join the Reaper Receipt 1000 campaign. Send us your DVD receipt! Details at http://reaperdmv.com."

2) Convince your friends and family to join in!

3) Get on Twitter. Follow reaperdmv, add #reaper and #savereaper to your tweets so we have a presence there.

4) In a week or so we'll launch the #watchreaper event. We will either set up a watch party for the premiere being replayed on Sunday, June 21 (and ask international viewers to watch, maybe online?) or set up a separate viewing day/time for us all to watch together. More on this to follow.

Stay with us, everybody! We've only begun to fight.

I just bought Season 1 from the Columbia House TV on DVD Club. If you enter HAL, you can get 2 TV DVDs for $10. Of course, you later have to buy 2 more DVDs costing $20+ each :(

My point is if you are willing to buy DVDs in general then this might be a more cost effective approach if someone still doesn't have Season 1.

I sent my confirmation email to both the gmail and yahoo addresses.

Good luck with this effort. Reaper is a great show with humor and excellent character interaction.

It would be great if you could find a distributor for Reaper DVD's in your area. Do a little research and if you get to know about a company that might be willing to distribute the DVD sets for your region in your area, please TELL THEM YOU WANT REAPER ON DVD!

Okay, here's some more advice from Nick:

Organize the petitioning and receipt reception. I'd find someone in some major markets who can advertise on Craig's List or something about the campaign. Use Twitter, facebook, etc. Get all the Reaper sites on board and promoting the campaign.

It can work out, but just organize the paper/dvd drive. Pick large markets. Some markets that did better for REAPER than others: Portland Oregon, Austin Texas, and San Diego. I think those were the top 3 markets (percentage wise) so find out if you got fans in those cities and have them make a local event, viewing party or something and advertise locally and get some signatures and DVD receipts.

In this vein, I posted this at Portland's Craigslist in the television discussion forum:

PDX Reaper fans!

We're trying to organize some events to help bring attention to Reaper, and maybe try and raise it from its dead-but-not-all-the-way dead status. We ran a campaign and know the CW affiliates want the show, but ABC Studios has never offered a contract.

Anyways, I live in Portland, and I'm wondering if there are any fans who want to join us in Re-Watch nights, either in posting here, twitter, or chat (at our board). We just got the DVDs, so we were thinking of Tuesday nights in honor of the show.

Reports are we might get a comic book, but we're still aiming hiring. If anyone wants more info, please post here. We've got lots of things going on to try and save the show. A Receipts for Reaper campaign, donate Reaper DVDs to the troops, write in to different places to keep up Reaper support.

But in the end, we're just fans who want to keep the idea alive, so if anyone wants to talk about the show, write fanfic, do icons, or something, we love that too.

Do we have anyone here who can try and drum up support in the Austin and San Diego markets?

I'm still looking into other areas on Craig's List to see if we can't advertise there too. Also, I went and made a comment on our local CW affiliate website, http://www.nw32.com

So keep up the work guys! Request copies from your libraries, buy and/or donate the DVDs, twitter the snot out of the show, post in unusual places D: Just be out there! FIND THOSE RECEIPTS!!!! If we can be successful, we might be able to get a Reaper Convention out of this.

The thing about purchasing socks is that a) it doesn't make any money for ABC, and that's pretty much the only thing left to get their attention now; and b) it's a waste of resources since all that really happens with the socks is that they get thrown away. If you *do* purchase stuff like this, I would suggest donating them and getting a receipt and send *that* in instead.

Do you have a link, airwreck? I'd like to advertise that.

Ok guys. After my efforts to get Lionsgate on the "RELEASE REAPER WORLDWIDE" bandwagon turned out to be fruitless (I was put on hold for like 7 minutes... and I was calling from ANOTHER COUNTRY!!), I have another idea.

It would be great if you could find a distributor for Reaper DVD's in your area. Do a little research and if you get to know about a company that might be willing to distribute the DVD sets for your region in your area, please TELL THEM YOU WANT REAPER ON DVD!

I will second this - especially to all our international fans who are frustrated that they can't help more. Here's an excellent way to help out.

Thanks for your assistance Blue Sunflower.
I also posted the info about the podcast on several Galactica and Sci-Fi sites, so I am spreading the word. Many think REAPER is dead, and by having this grass roots movement with the DVD campaign, we can heighten consciousness towards keeping the show still alive.
Many times we get hundreds of downloads from one podcast alone so this is one way we can get more informed fans out there- and quickly.
I noticed in the Brett interview that he mentioned June 30. Is that the target date we should aim for? If so, we should definitely get as many DVDs sold before that window closes.
Thanks again for all your help! :)
KR
P.S. I can even devote a couple shows to Save Reaper if you like. cko can be on one, you on another. Does this sound doable? The more exposure, the better, right? Perhaps we can even get Jenny Wade to do one show.

I saw that too, and I have no idea what Bret means. My initial reaction is that he meant May 30th, as I think that was the date he and Tyler demanded their release. However, Nick is mentioning a summer timeline, and to be honest - we haven't even got the rewatch stuff up yet, so I really don't think we could make a deadline of June 30th.

However, that's not to say you and us can't mention it. Time *is* of the essence here, so anything helps. But I would also mention that just because one doesn't purchase a DVD by June 30th, that doesn't mean our campaign ends. We'll still take the receipts. :)

I don't about Jenny, as I think we would have to go through her publicist/manager, but yes definitely - the more exposure the better!

Hey koenigrules!

Thanks for helping out on Reapersite and the CW Boards. I'm not allowed to post links there anymore (and ha! CW finally banned me for a week about it), so I really need people there to keep up the pressure to get people to turn in receipts - especially at the CW boards where NO one reads. Pffffffft.

Anyways - do be careful what you write at the CW boards, they like to inconsistently take down everything, and for some reason if you get the wrong mods, they'll take down links too ("off-site links are NOT allowed!!!!!"). That's why I put the link as my homepage and tell everybody to click on my profile as well.

And don't spam Reapersite. He knows about the campaign, so gentle reminders. They don't really allow campaigning there either. I got away with a lot (to be fair I didn't quite notice that I had, but oh well).

Also - I've worn out my welcome at TV.com as well. So anyone willing to go emblazen stuff over there would be appreciated too. Giselef always takes my stuff down with a "TOS Warning, we already HAVE an official renewal thread" - despite the fact that that title now sucks ass ("reaper in trouble, the creators are leaving!"), and no one reads *it* either.

I just type in buddytv.com. I think it is listed under celebrity ratings. Brett has over 285,000 votes. I just purchased Season 1 and Season 2 on Amazon.com link you have posted. So Amazon tally's the amount of videos we buy of REAPER? I am going into my email box to print out the confirmation. I will figure out the quickest way to get my receipt to you. On buddytv.com, Brett has approximately over 278,000 votes, not 285,000 like I posted above. The site is very slow right now and am hoping that our fans are voting like crazy for REAPER and the cast. I noticed that Brett has the most votes of the show. With this glitchy site, maybe REAPER fans are over-loading the circuits. Imagine the site being blown because REAPERLYTES (catchy huh?) are voting like mad!!! VOTE, BUY DVDS, EMAIL, PETITION AND SPREAD THE WORD. THE SHOW IS NOT OVER UNTIL THE FAT LADY (SORRY) SINGS!!

Okay, y'all listen up: We have a plan.

Sundays - #watchreaper as we watch the CW reruns

Wednesdays - itunes/DVD night. We're 98% leaning towards going backwards. So, for example, this week Sunday is the Premiere, and Wednesday we'll watch the Finale to compare.

Thursday - write in day. To make sure everyone knows Reaper still has a fandom, we'll email the CW, ABC, and our CW affiliates.

We'll organize this on Wednesday 6/17 after we get your guys' thoughts, and we will ALL go out blitzing everything we can on Thursday and Friday with The Plan.

Ready, set....your thoughts:

Hi guys. I just received SEASON 1 AND SEASON 2 OF REAPER. I JUST ORDERED ON MONDAY 6/15 AND RECEIVED IN JUST 1 DAY FROM AMAZON.COM. They are awesome! I am going to see if I can comment on their website. I cannot wait to watch. So the CW is televising the REAPER ON SUNDAY, or is it a SAVEREAPER CAUSE? PLEASE LET ME KNOW. I JUST FORWARDED OVER MY RECEIPT FOR MY PURCHASE OF S1 AND S2 to your site.
ANOTHER NOTE: WHEN GOING ON BUDDYTV.COM, I GO TO RATE OR HATE AND VOTE ON REAPER. I FIGURED THAT WOULD BE MORE HELPFUL THAN JUST VOTING FOR THE ACTORS. YESTERDAY I SPENT ALL DAY VOTING AND REAPER WAS #50 AND I GOT REAPER TO BE #17 OR 18. I CRIED WHEN I DID THIS BECAUSE I OUTVOTED MY BELOVED MOONLIGHT. SORRY MOONLIGHT FANS. THE SITE IS GLITCHY AND YOU NEED TO BE PATIENT AND LOOK AT BOTTOM FOOTER TO BE COMPLETELY DOWNLOADED. WHEN YOU PLACE YOUR MOUSE OVER THE POINTS TO BE ADDED, MAKE SURE THAT IT SAYS JAVASCRIPT SUBMIT POINTS (VARIES BETWEEN POINTS; I VOTED FOR OTHER PROGRAMS AND WAS ALLOWED 6 POINTS, RATHER THAN THE 3 POINTS THAT WAS ORIGINALLY ALLOWED). I HOPE THIS HELPS!! I JUST PEAKED AT BUDDYTV AND REAPER IS NOW #19. SO LET'S GET VOTING. I CANNOT DO THIS ALONE (I SWEAR ON WAS ON HOURS TO GET THE VOTE TO BE 17 RATHER THAN 50). LONG LIVE REAPER AND KUDOS TO EVERYONE HELPING. YOU GUYS ARE OVER THE TOP. I HOPE THE EXECS READ THIS AND WATCH THE VOTES ON BUDDYTV TOO!!

but if you think about it it makes sense. Tyler has a new show so for him future is secure. which makes him more willing to accept Reaper-is-dead and not fight for it or try to dig up things that would indicate Reaper still has a chance for renewal. Why would he fight for a show that woun't include him?

OTOH Jenny doesn't, not with Body Politics not being picked up. So for her makes sense to try to get Reaper renewed, get involved, try to dig up good news to keep the fight going and our spirits up. If Reaper is renewed she is in and with Tyler gone likely to get more screen time. In her place I'd fight for a chance to be in new season of established show with loyal fan base.

I wonder if Tyler realizes the inherent inconsistencies in all his posts. This time "there is absolutely no chance of Reaper going another year" conflicts heartily with the "there is a comic book coming out and some serious talk of it becoming a cartoon."

Tyler's not saying anything he hasn't already been saying for weeks now. We know a season this year is increasingly unlikely. However, that doesn't preclude the future, particularly if the comic books sell well and the cartoon does good - assuming we get those that is. So make sure to send in your DVD receipts, and get others to as well.

All Tyler's message does is make people give up even more when they really don't need to if they don't want. Remember when I said that one of the hardest things we're fighting against is everyone only getting the "Reaper is Dead" news, so they don't know they can still help? This is just yet another example of that. It's too bad we can't mass email all those people ourselves and tell them if they want to help continue supporting the show anyways, they can come here.

I would recommend continuing to post the Save Reaper stuff as usual there, and if Tyler's serious about shutting down the largest Reaper Facebook group, then perhaps we will need to consider opening up another one or moving to a different one. As a Reaper board, we here will continue to discuss Reaper no matter what form it takes, particularly as we work to get it back in *regular* form. It's not that hard for us to add new boards. :)

This isn't really new.

I would go with what makes the most sense to *you*.

Personally, I'm in the middle, and more to the point where Jenny is. While excited about how good it looked in the beginning, reality has now set in and I am well aware of the obstacles.

IMO, The situation is nowhere near the absolutely-and-utterly-hopeless-so-give-up-completely message as Tyler is making it out to be, simply because of the facts:

1. Reaper the TV show will not air next year, yet there are cases of shows coming back, even after being "canceled" for over a year.

2. The show and story are not dead since they want to do a comic book and/or cartoon

3. We seem at this point to be a fandom that doesn't quite want to give up, even when faced with the reality that this won't be easy

And this doesn't even mention all the stuff I've heard from other people, non-Tyler and non-Jenny.

I have never said this would be easy, or that we would be successful. But I don't really see any REAL evidence that this is beyond ALL hope, or not worth the effort anymore. At the very least, I am still interested in the story, so that will go on because it's not contingent on everyone in the cast getting new jobs that will last for years making a televised show impossible no matter how much we want it.

Blue i'm with u at 100%.
I don't know where we are going to arrive, but we are anyway on the path.

Furthermore I suppose Tyler, besides having a new and totally different show, was a little bit frustrated for how his character has been developed, i.e. stepsister story ....
Adding at this that Nina and Ben relationship has really changed internal balances, there's a lot of clues to understand his facebook posts.

Thanks, nemicus. I suppose each of us will know when we've arrived at our own dead end, but while it's kinda disheartening right now I'm kinda looking forward to a comic book if we get it. I just kinda wish we could have it NOW - or at least an official announcement - if only to lift our spirits.

Besides, it's always darkest before the dawn, right? ;)

Right now we have a few hundred downloads of our podcast so the word has gotten out.
Let's hope we can expand that base this next Tuesday night, OK?

I haven't got an answer about the receipts from the guy I'll probably be getting the DVD's from. If he doesn't reply by Monday I won't be getting the DVD's. I really need those receipts for the campaign.

Thanks cko. It was great to have you on the show tonight.
We should keep up the momentum these next few weeks.
Perhaps we can have people call in next week re: some aspect of Reaper they like- perhaps the best episode of the series, the best character, what they would like to see in Season 3, etc.?
What do you think?

I like that but do you think there would be enough time? We can maybe try and sign some people up who are willing to call in for a couple of minutes in order to organize it better.

I'm okay to call in again, but I'm a lot more open *after* next week.

Just wanted to mention for those who have not yet purchased a copy yet... more incentive to to do so to contribute to the campaign! ;D

Hey Blue, how are we doing on the REAPER SEASON 1 AND 2 campaign count? Is this making a difference for a network to consider how popular and profitable it is for them to bring REAPER back? I am thinking of purchasing 2 more sets for friends. I am even checking on the CW lounge members site, hoping to see a POSITIVE go on the REAPER coming back. We are not giving up. Thanks for this website and all your support.

Word. We need more people! It's a lot of fun chatting when we're all together.

Anyways - virtue, things are kinda slow right now. Join us for the rewatch on Wednesdays, that's how we're keeping stuff up right now. Hopefully soon we are expecting some stuff to excite the fans a bit more, but we are unfortunately still waiting for them. :( We don't want to count our chickens before they hatch.

I'm hoping maybe we'll have some info on a comic book soon!

HI EVERYONE. CKO AND BLUE, I DID NOT GET TO DOWNLOAD THE ITUNES. I AM TECH. LIMITED. DO I NEED AN M3 OR IPOD TO BE ABLE TO DO THIS? I LOGGED ONTO ITUNES AND NOTICED DIFFERENT FREE SITES. LET ME KNOW. ALSO, MY MOM SAID SHE SAW COMMERCIALS FOR THE FALL LINE UP OF SHOWS, AND SHE SAID THAT PRISON BREAK WAS ONE OF THEM. THIS SHOW WAS CANCELLED. HAVE YOU HEARD ANYTHING ABOUT THIS? IF PRISON BREAK CAN COME BACK FROM THE DEAD, SURELY REAPER CAN DO THE SAME.

Just thought of something. We could start a campaign or somesuch to urge people to buy Reaper DVD sets and give them as christmas presents, specially to people who haven't watched the show yet. Sales would go up (showing interest to powers-thet-suck-but-which-be) and we get more people hooked up fans

I thought this was interesting, so I'll pass it along. Just happended to check the Cleveland Public Library system for latest on Reaper DVD's. Out of 12 copies; 11 are currently out on loan ... a year after the show was cancelled. So there are still people discovering/reliving the show. Additional note. As I recall, they originally had more than 12 copies of the show, so there must be several out on "permanent" loan.

Cool, wd, I guess there really is still interest in the show. As we've been noting with all these promo interviews with the cast, the interviewers usually say something like "What happened with Reaper, that was a cool little show."

Plus, the Twitter account, and Facebook--keep seeing newish fans finding the show, and liking it.
